Gloria Hudson Porteous (wife),
James Roderick Porteous (son Rod), and
Gloria Louise Nelson (daughter GloLouise).

In 1957 Jim came to the end of himself because of a marital crisis and sought the LORD on his knees in an abandoned chicken house which brought a profound change in his life. The LORD being his only Tutor gave him an insatiable desire to know HIM through the Scriptures. This gave Jim much needed hope, faith, and comfort; praying always for God to restore his marriage. In studying the Bible, Jim saw that spiritually hungry believers could seek God and receive the baptism in the Holy Ghost to be an anointed witness for Christ. Shortly after, the LORD gave him the initial biblical evidence of the Holy Spirit on the way to the altar to receive that anointing.

Through fasting and much prayer, the LORD restored Jim and Gloria's marriage just before their fourteenth wedding anniversary. Unbeknown to Jim, Gloria had also reached out to the LORD for the restoration of their marriage. That answer to prayer was an absolute miracle of God. When Jim returned home from work that day, he found a sweet loving wife to greet him. In literally one day Gloria was transformed. She was born-again, Holy Spirit filled, loved the LORD with all her heart, and loved her husband all over again. It was beautiful. They were like newly weds.

Immediately a ministry team was formed. They were a ministry family to inner-city homeless people. Even taking some home with them. Rod was twelve and GloLouise was six. While serving in a rescue mission for fifteen years, Jim received a word from the LORD to open a school for the children. Rod and GloLouise were mightily used of God in fulfilling that call in facilitating, maintaining, and administrating it. It was such a success that soon after even local families were enrolling their children.

Jim and Gloria made short missionary trips to Nigeria and the Philippines. The supernatural power of the Holy Spirit manifested readily amongst those spiritually hungry people. Jim experienced the same moves of God in missionary trips to Mexico before Gloria's conversion. The LORD took Gloria home peacefully in her sleep on July 12, 2020.

The ministry continues today in the same zeal and desire to please the LORD by teaching and preaching the life-changing Word of God to all people. God's Word is foundational and the ultimate. It is exalted even above His holy Name, the only true and successful standard for faith and conduct.
